What about me?
Camille Tyler is a multidisciplinary artist based in Florida with a BFA from Texas State University's School of Art and Design. Since 2009, she has explored various mediums, including graphic design, art prints, acrylic, and watercolor painting, creating pieces that evoke her deep connection to nature—especially bodies of water—and the cosmos. Her work expanded in 2019 to include fiber arts, specializing in macrame and weaving, offering a tactile and meditative layer to her creative practice. Camille’s artistry is deeply influenced by her love for music, which spans multiple genres and instruments. A versatile musician and singer, she plays piano, ukulele, trumpet, and flute, seamlessly weaving sound and visual art in her creative process. She finds inspiration in both the natural world and the stars, creating pieces that blend organic and celestial elements. Camille's connection with nature stems from her lifelong passion for the sport of tournament waterskiing.
This is the story of a girl.

From the outside, it may seem like I'm all over the place as an artist. I reject the modern idea of “niche, niche, niche!” Each medium of art in which I engage makes me better at the others. So why do I have to choose just one?

I love learning! Although I would stay in school for the rest of my life (if it was paid for), I can’t explore and grow without leaving my comfort zone. I do pride myself in my ability to learn quickly and efficiently. When it comes to "real jobs," any skills I don't have I can teach myself. Learning is a life-long process and it’s what makes life fun!

I cherish every second that I am lucky enough to spend with the people I love. I lost my dad unexpectedly 10 years ago and I didn’t know that he was the most important person in my life, until he was gone. My entire perspective changed, including how I approach my work. Learning to live without his advice (and critiques of my work) has been very difficult. (See next)

I am a recovering perfectionist ha! I’m learning to see the beauty in my work, “flaws” included. One thing I can’t shake is my drive for continuous improvement. I will always strive to make my work better.

Learning to live with my ADHD has been overwhelming at times, but knowing that my brain works differently from most has been such a relief. I’ve felt lost for a very long time but I’m finally learning how to harness the potential that has been stuck in my brain for so many years.

I’ve tried conforming to the typical 8-5 corporate culture, but I have yet to find a good fit for the longterm. I thrive in a positive, flexible work environment where I am accepted for my shortcomings and applauded for my continuous commitment to personal growth. Accepting that I don’t have to fit into a box of what I’m “supposed to be” to be successful has been very liberating. I have a unique perspective on life and art and design. If that’s something you’re looking for, let’s chat.

I was born into a waterski family, I grew up on the water — I cannot live life without it. I know the true healing powers of nature (I love TREES), but especially water. Everyone needs a little lake in their life :)
